Who are we?

This month is the anniversary of a remarkable day in history. Commemorating a time when it was illegal by law to fall in love with someone of a different color. June 12th is Loving Day named after the couple Richard and Mildred Loving who fought the system for their right to love, marry and raise a family in the state of Virginia in 1967. June 21-24, 2007 in Chicago, Illinois For the first time in U.S. history, the Loving Conference wishes to bring together organizations representing all communities on critical issues that continue to fragment our nation at the Loving Decision Conference 2007: The Next 40 Years of Multiracial Communities.

How does this blog tie in?

Eternal Beauty in Black celebrates the empowerment, beauty, strength and wisdom of black women everywhere. This includes empowering their choice to who they fall in love with. During my time while wandering the net and reading different blogs, there has been many women like me who have a preference for a type of man they’re interested in. Many feel they should hide in fear of backlash because their preference or attraction goes against everything their “community” says it’s not the image they should fall for. They’ve grown up taking care of everyone else before themselves, thus carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders.

Black women are not a monolith.

But many have been made to stay within that mindset.

This is a blog celebrating individuality and advancement. This is also a blog that sits against the tide of the media that says black women are not attractive, all of them look a certain way and they are only good for one thing.

On the sides you will see many of our favorite shows, books and movies that depict IR couples which you probably haven’t heard of. You will also see some talented and beautiful trailblazing sistas that have paved the way on TV in star making roles that have gained a strong following.

So go ahead a bookmark us for future posts that celebrate the eternal beauty in black women.
